  8. About Drop•PS
  9.  
  10. Drop•PS (“DPS”) is a utility to send text files containing PostScript™
  11. code to any PostScript printer connected to an AppleTalk™ network. To
  12. send a file, folder full of files, or disk full of files, simply drop it
  13. onto the DPS application or an alias to the application. You can also
  14. drop multiple files, folders, or disks at once.

  16. (DPS can also download EPSF-format files.)

  18. DPS does its work independently of any installed printer drivers, so you
  19. don’t need to have the LaserWriter driver installed. DPS is System 7-
  20. compatible, 32-bit clean, and 68040- and Power Macintosh-compatible.

  22. When you run DPS for the first time, it will ask you to choose a
  23. printer. Thereafter, items that you drop onto DPS will be downloaded to
  24. that printer. (The name and zone of the currently selected printer are
  25. displayed in the window that DPS opens up when you launch it without any
  26. documents.) You can change the printer by using the “Preferences...”
  27. command from the File menu. DPS remembers your choice across launches.

  29. In the Preferences dialog, you can determine whether Drop•PS prepends a
  30. PostScript title header (version 2.0), and whether the settings are
  31. stored within the Drop•PS application itself, or in a separate
  32. preferences file. (Storing settings in the Drop•PS application can be
  33. useful if you would like to set up multiple copies of DPS, with each one
  34. set to send to a different printer.)

  37. Rosenthol and several others.
